Although I am a big Shopaholic, Shopping spree was down since the time “Recession” hit “General Motors”. I was once working for my client General Motors and know how and what are the effects of recession like. My sis has a gala time when i take her out for shopping. She tries to make best out of the shopping with me. coz’ she gets to shop endlessly without anyone complaining about her taking time or about the budget for the shopping of the day.
Poor Girl, she chooses the best and its me who gets to keep it most of the times. We both do not vary much in size, hence always fight over which one to wear. she being the youngest one gets to wear second-hands. And me being the eldest one, take all the liberty to wear the dresses(also the reason being, I spent the money,Lemme wear it First..
) . But she’s such a darling in this matter, she always lets me have the first hand on her dresses unlike me..
I have an attachment with every dress i bring, so i don’t let her take it all..
With S its double the fun..!!
He always has nice “tummy-reducing” tips to give me
and i shout back at him saying, “Its not me.. Its the stitching of the dress..” and he gives me that weird look staring at my tummy again…
Otherwise S has less patience but lots of choice for me… He comes up with so many choices for me.. and whatever i like and say him “This is nice na..”, he says “Take it..”
but someone had to be controlled.. So, finally i control the shop-bug inside me.. and say him, “I already have this shade..
” and he’s like “Onum pesa venaam… Pesama iru..” (You dont have to say anything… just keep quite.. in Tamil). Icing on cake, there is no bar to the number of clothes i can buy, he totally understands the shopaholic I am…
Thank you so much S.
Recession for me and my sis has taken some 6 months of time, and finally she had to raise the guns to push me out of the house and take her out for shopping. Only problem with her at shooping is that, she pities every shopkeeper we meet, and buys @least one product, be it dress or earring or sandal.. anything..
So finally we made it to T.Nagar, the baap of all shopping areas.. Infact it is far-far better than all those periya – periya(Big-Big in Tamil) malls.. I think malls are more of fantasy kind of a place, where most of the people i know come for window shopping with a cone ice-cream or pop-corns. Another category of people get their kids to play on the swaying toys which plays “Happy-Birthday” songs(with 5-rupaiya coin) lot of disturbances for free, excuse the battery or motors for that matter!!! I pity the kids….!!
So we reached T.Nagar, and time to decide what to buy, I desperately wanted to buy denim this time. I always wanted to buy something nicer than what i have, but never fitted into one
Thanks to my tummy.. and denim are my favs, the older the shades looks awesome..!!
I’m not that big fan of Branded Jeans.. Brand is just to flaunt about. For me.. the right fit does the job
And sis gave idea of Globus. There are some cool offers going on these days for the denim. Hail sis, for taking me there…!!
I picked two jeans and tried one.
I – “Fits perfect”
sis- ” How can.. it..??”
I – “Duh!! wat??” :S
sis- “I mean.. Finally!!!”
And i went to the counter to pay for the bill.. just before that, i wanted to buy a kurti to match it with the new jeans.!! I love Cotton-Kurtis paired with Jeans!! S loves the combo too
I went to the kurti counter and placed hands on a lovely looking kurti, from back i heard sis saying “Don’t touch it.. Its more than 2000/-” Jaw down, I turned the kurti and found the price…just like sis said!! She’s noes the latest trend of prices during recession. So stopped with buying kurti, we went to the bill counter and paid for the Jeans. Surprise!! Surprise!! We got scratch card

Me and sis were so impatient that before the counter-guy could give us the 1-rupaiya coin to scratch, thanks to my long nails, i did the honour!!! and Yea!! 3-in-1 DVD for free. Although it had all the movies i had watched earlier, winning something for free is what gives that extra zing.!!
Next stop Pondy Bazaar ke mumbai shops..!!
the mumbai seths(so named for marwaadis in Chennai) and the punjabi sardars have nice collection of the latest in fashion dress materials. The fashion trend for them comes from the latest saas-bahu serials. I could find latest dress materials and ready mades of the latest buzz of small-screen Akshara, with her Anarkali dresses. She’s the latest drama-queen these days and her shows are doing great on TRP ratings. Sis was done searching the whole shop and didnt like any of the dress within her budget. And me.. i became the victim of her pityness and had to buy a dress for myself.
Just next to the shop, was another shop, I guess it was his father’s
They looked the same..!! Sis brought two-three dresses out of frustation of not getting the perfect choice. I thanked God.. secretl saving my wallet this time..!! I was thinking while she was shopping, that, if in a ill-mood she can by three dresses, then when in good-mood how many can she.. Lot of permutations and combinations ran in mind and finally i heard “I’m done.. man..!! This shop S***s..” I was like “Yeah true..!! come Let’s go..!!
Happy me..
And then, as a trend going back home, we bought lot of small- small stuff from road side shops. That’s the most coolest thing to do while shopping!!
The whole shopping time was lot of fun and very tiring, since just after the shopping i had to rush to my school mates’ reception. All the while I kept wondering, Am I getting older.. or my friend’s are in a hurry to get married ..!!
